KAPSULE combines a high-visibility swim buoy with the compact LT-10 LoRaWAN GPS tracker, allowing coaches, event teams and shore-based safety personnel to view swimmers' reported locations from a computer, phone or tablet. The tracker is placed inside the buoy's storage compartment, so swimmers do not need to wear an additional device.

How the System Works

  • The LT-10 obtains its position through GNSS/GPS and sends data by LoRa radio.
  • A nearby LoRaWAN gateway receives the tracker data and forwards it to a network server.
  • The network server sends the information to a GPS tracking platform such as Ezfinder.
  • Authorized users can review location, route history and alerts through the web or mobile app.

Important: A LoRaWAN gateway and network connection are required. GPS and LoRa signals may weaken if the tracker is submerged or blocked. This system supports supervision and location monitoring; it does not replace lifeguards, safety procedures or emergency equipment.

1. Is a LoRaWAN gateway required?

Yes. The LT-10 sends data through LoRa radio and must connect to a standards-compliant LoRaWAN gateway.

2. What is needed for a basic test system?

You need LT-10 trackers, one LoRaWAN gateway, a LoRaWAN network server, internet access and an application platform. Many gateways include a basic network server suitable for small pilot sites.

3. Can locally sourced gateways be used?

Yes. The LT-10 follows the standard LoRaWAN protocol and is generally compatible with major gateway brands, including Kerlink, MultiTech, Tektelic, Milesight and RAKwireless.

4. How can users view tracker locations?

GlobalSat's Ezfinder platform displays device locations on Google Maps. It can be accessed through a web browser on a computer, phone or tablet, and a mobile app is also available.

5. Can many trackers be monitored at the same time?

Yes. Ezfinder can monitor large device fleets. A single gateway can often support hundreds or even thousands of trackers, depending on terrain, obstructions and reporting frequency.

6. What communication range can be expected?

In a clear, open environment, LoRaWAN may reach approximately 5-10 km or farther. Actual range depends on gateway height and placement, terrain, buildings, metal obstructions and whether the tracker is above the water surface.

7. How often does the LT-10 report its position?

The standard setting is one report every 60 minutes. A shorter interval may be configured by the supplier before shipment for testing or specific projects. The interval should be agreed before ordering.

8. Is system integration possible?

Yes. Technical documentation is available to help customers decode LT-10 data and integrate it with a third-party platform.
